The Thin Blue Line
In a non-descript suburban Sydney street in Concord, called - well, Sydney St, the blue line painted on the route for the 2000 Olympic Games marathon is still clearly visible.

Now you can follow the path of Olympic champions!
ReplyDeleteA great memory!
ReplyDeleteyes, nice memories. Glad to hear you are hale or is it hail and hearty again!
ReplyDeleteThe interesting thing about the blue line sightings is that it gives you an indication of how well our roads are maintained. It's nearly nine years since that line was painted on the roads and in that time not many of those roads have been repaired or resurfaced. I notice a few cracks opening up on this stretch of road in that second photograph Sally.
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm not so sure, J - if roads were resurfaced more often than that, we'd all be living with roads elevated like the monorail before too long! And certainly ratepayers would be paying an enormous amount more!
ReplyDeleteThe line was green in Melbourne, and you could still see it decades later!
