I love this pool. It's  true rock pool, which was constructed in 1932 by the local council as an unemployment relief scheme.

West Head in Kuring-gai National Park - looking north across Broken Bay to the Central Coast. Lion Island is at the entrance to the Hawkesbury River. The island has the largest population of Little Penguins in the Sydney area. No human access is allowed. It is a breeding ground for shearwaters and free of feral foxes and cats.

From the lookout at Bilgola Head, we can see Bilgola Beach, then Bilgola South Head, Newport Beach, Bungan Head, and in the distance, Mona Vale Headland and Turmietta Head. Magnificent! Fancy living in such a place, eh!

Riding one of these looks like a whole heap of fun; not sure what they are - they look like a type of skimboard. If anyone knows the real name I'd love to know.

The gorgeous lagoon at Wattamolla in the Royal National Park on the southern fringe of Sydney.

The ring of rocks pool - underwater

This is from half under the water in the pool seen yesterday. I'm experimenting with the D10 waterproof camera to see what different effects I can get. Which do you prefer? In the shot below you can see the water bubbles as a fresh wave spills over the rocks into the pool.

The coast walk from Clovelly to Bondi

Around Waverley Cemetery. The path used to go along the edge of the cemetery. It was crowded and becoming eroded, so this new cantilevered decked walk has been built.

Little Bay - golf and chapel

There are four golf courses along the coastal clifftops here - Randwick, The Coast course, St Michael's and New South Wales. You can walk all the way along the coast as well.

Little Bay - the wedding

Yesterday I showed you the beach. It must be a pretty romantic spot, for this wedding party chose to cross the rocks for some photos! The swimmers seem pretty unfazed by it all.

Paddling pool, Terrigal Beach

I took the photo above at Terrigal on 19 September 2007. Terrigal is a coastal town a couple of hours north of Sydney.
On Tuesday (1 Sep 2009) I was there again for work, and the tide was obviously low!

Old Prince Henry Hospital - the former sewing cottage site

"This was the site of the sewing cottage a non-descript little building where sewing of nurses uniforms and general mending of clothing took place in the late 1800s and early 1900s."

I love this stylised treadle sewing machine.

Prince Henry Hospital, also called "The Coast Hospital" at Little Bay was closed in 2001, and the prime real estate upon which it sat is being converted to housing.

It was established in 1881 to cope with a smallpox epidemic. Little Bay was chosen because of its (then) isolation from the city.

PS - Little Bay in the background is where Christo and Jeanne-Claude wrapped the coast in 1969. See my previous blog entry about that event.

Clovelly 4 - Off The Rocks

Outside the breakwaer, where the rocks are, kids were having agreat time jumping and diving off the rocks into the ocean. The rock platform extends quite a way, because they were able to stand in the water.

Clovelly 3 - The cafe
