Contrast

These houses are next door to each other. Their front yards present quite a study in contrast. I am especially intrigued by the drums which seem to be filled with cement and have steel poles sticking out of them in the second photo! What on earth could that be about?

  1. My goodness! I don't know what to say. I don't think that I'd like either yard. Interesting idea to contrast them...and they ARE different!!

  2. Goodness what a difference. I'd say the drums filled with cement are to support an umbrella - the sort that shades a table.

  3. The first one is what the side of our house would look like if our garage wasn't hiding the stuff!

A few pot plants wouldn't go amiss!

  4. I believe they are a parking aid. You could reverse a car into that spot using the poles as a visual guide, also the one tied to the drain pipe is probably to protect it from being knocked by the car getting too close to the house!

  5. The occupants of this house are probably Asian. Those drums are support posts for a badminton net. The reason the yard is clear is because it serves as a small badminton court. The first house is probably occupied by an Aussie who is in denial about not having a garage. Notice how carefully the motorcycle has been put away?

  6. That is hilarious! Maybe the pole is for a tetherball?

  7. I would say badmitten. Neat photos depicting human being occupants. Certainly not for wildlife.

  8. I'm going with the badminton net theory for the second photo. The first one: OH MY!
