We interrupt the sculpture exhibition....
...to celebrate thae most magnificent of Sydney seasonal events - November's display of jacaranda blooms. They are everywhere. If you stand at a high point, whichever direction you look there is this glorious display of mauve. This tree is on my walk to the station. Here it was in 2006, and this is what the jacarandas looked like elsewhere in 2007: click here. And here's the jacaranda in the main quad at Sydney Uni.

Oh, that is beautiful! So very unlike what we are seeing in this part of the world right now!
ReplyDeleteGood one, Sally. Most of the trees I see are very tall and I don't seem to be able to get bunches of flowers. You have nailed it good and proper. Great time of year, isn't it? And to think that within about a fortnight the agapanthus will be out too!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Beautiful! I long for blossoms now that my lawn and backyard is covered in white.
ReplyDeleteI love these trees! We have many of them in Arizona however not in quite the abundance of our photos. Ours will be blooming in March or April. The blooms are the most amazing color.
ReplyDeleteI could almost smell their fragrance when the page loaded. Easy to forget it's spring for you as winter crawls toward us up north. Thanks for interrupting :)
ReplyDeleteOh Sally, it's like May in Los Angeles! Jacaranda is my favorite blooming tree -- and this one is magnificent. Happy Spring!!!
ReplyDeleteHA! there they are! you said to come back in the spring & it's here! Beautiful, beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWe have lots of jacaranda trees here on Maui too, and they're one of my favorites--and this photo showcases them so well!
ReplyDeleteHow did you do that box at the bottom? That is so cool!
