Jacarandas

Two days ago, in the aerial shots of southern Sydney I pointed out the abundance of jacarandas. The second shot here is cropped from one of those aerial shots, and shows the line of jacarandas along Fry Reserve in Warialda St, Kogarah.

This morning I went down there just before dawn and took some shots in the early morning light.

These Brazilian natives have found a very happy home in Sydney.

  1. Oh Sally the joy that you bring to me! This line of jacarandas along the waterfront are to die for (to dye for???)

    I want them here now!
Instead we're getting beautiful yellowy gold leaves swirling around madly with the mistral...

  2. The jacarandas are beautiful trees. Not knowing to much about horticulture (but I can read:), I wonder, are they warm weather trees?

  5. That time of year again.
They are beautiful in blossom and I remember you posted this last year and equally fascinated. It's good to see this any time.

  6. nathalie: maybe you could plant a jacaranda in a pot and bonsai it on your lovely terrace!

clueless: yes, warmer climes suit them.

bergson: lol, no, not apilot, just a passenger!

    ann and ben: thanks!

  9. Love jacarandas. I drove from Hobart to Cairns and passed through a town - in New South Wales I think - just can't remember the name but it's famous for its main street being lined with these gorgeous trees. If you know the town, do tell me.

    Gorgeous.

I planted one in my garden but it's not yet flowered. One sees them here but not that often.

  13. Jilly, the town in NSW that is famous for its Jacarandas is Grafton which is in the top part of the coastline relatively close to Queensland.
