This sign might have a little more meaning if, well, if the garden had a bit more....garden. It is in a spot where office workers congregate to smoke. Unfortunately, too many smokers seem to think that their butts are someone else's problem to dispose of! It was cleaned up just before the sign appeared, but it didn't take long for the butts to start appearing again.

And why not to put a really ash tray nearby? :-)
ReplyDeleteIt annoys me no end when people litter on the street and in the parks. They should be fined for it until they learn a lesson.
ReplyDeleteNice colours in the pictures by the way.
I hate litter bugs!! I see that on the train all the time. They would open a package and show the wrappers under the seats. Makes me wanna go up and yell at them. Except in NYC, I am more worried about getting shot than litters. :-)
ReplyDeleteIf these office workers can not smoke inside ( what is a good thing ) they should have a separated place to smoke. I think, we have some kind of agreement to organize the place for smokers.
ReplyDeleteBut littering has increased in public places here a lot nowadays. Finland used to be clean, but I don`t know now.
Ick, nasty cigarette butts strewn in places they don't belong. People toss them around in Switzerland as well and it bothers me.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of the old saying; 'the butt stops here'. Maybe they could 'plant' an ashtray disguised as a flower.
ReplyDeleteExcellent! Not to mention that if people would not smoke, there would be no need for such a sign!!
ReplyDeleteI suspect they regard the sign as a challenge.
ReplyDeleteI've linked to this page as part of No Smoking Day on Hyde DP
