Totem poles as a permanent display are not associated with ABoriginal culture. However, I understand some groups carve and decorate such poles as part of funeral rituals and they are then left to weather and rot (hence there not being many in existence)
Interesting. They remind me of totem poles.
ReplyDeleteAh, Hilda beat me to it. They definitely do seem to have a relationship to totems. I wonder if they serve the same purpose?
ReplyDeleteThat's really different. Like the colourings.
ReplyDeleteWe all had the same reaction -- so much like totems. They reminded me of all the totem poles in Kethikan, Alaska -- in color and overall feel.
ReplyDeleteThese art shots have been so wonderful, Sally!
Love that! So very cool! Great colours!
