Art Deco in curves


I love art deco. These 1930s examples - a former bank, now offices, and a block of flats are in my local area.
If you'd like to see more, here's a site made by a fan of Art Deco Sydney.

    It's amazing how many of those bank buildings were built in that art deco era. It's sad that so many of them are no longer used as banks but good that most of them are still around and have found new uses.

    Yes. Like the old commonwealth at bexley. They are instantly recognisable as banks. Well to people of our era anyway.

    These are great! We have an old art deco Greyhound bus station here with curves like this. I need to go take photos of it sometime.

    You said previously, about the Museum of Sydney, that Sydney Sandstone has a beautiful golden honey hue. It is a beautiful building material.

    I couldn't agree more. Especially with art deco architecture that should be completed in a light coloured building material or render. So why why why were so many Sydney buildings built in dark red brick? It was awful then, and it is still awful now.

    Michelle - the second one is in Forest Road, Arncliffe. The first is on the Princes Highway at Arncliffe if I recall correctly.
