Mongrel Country - Nil Tenure (Sculpture By The Sea 10)

These dogs are made of steel armature, bitumen, textiles and found objects. Artist Amanda Stuart says: "My intention is to explore the tensions that arise when domestic and wild animal and human communities cohabit a terrain."

Below: The second time I went , I just happened to catch this white "real version" example! You can also see how much the grass has been worn over the duration of the exhibition, by this stage two weeks.

  1. Hi Sally! Wonderful series! The dogs are amazing, and the white one in the middle is a great catch... ;) The tree is very creative and I also love the curves and circles. It makes me wish to get back to Sydney one of these days... Except for the Interregnum... ;))
Now, I bet you won’t discover where Blogtrotter has landed, unless you get there to see… ;) Enjoy, comment and have a great week!

  4. The dogs are so lifelike from the distance. a bit disturbing in a pack like that. Love the white one shot.
I was looking back & saw the phantom photographer. LOL! What in the world is right!
Also wanted to thank you for helping to solve the bloger photo size problem. That was so frustrating - I thought I was doing something wrong for sure!

  7. From a distance they really seem alive! What a work of art. Thanks for sharing. Look at the white dog, he seems more unreal than the fake ones!

  9. I just missed a shot of a little dog sniffing the bum of the one with its leg up. The dog's owner and I were both in hysterics. I do have a shot of them nose to nose.

Re Skywatch. It doesn't go up till Friday (Thursday night northern hemisphere time). Its not a permanent link, unfortunately, you need to do it every Friday. When your post has published, go to Skywatch and you'll see the list of participants and the link area at the bottom of the page. Try first thing tomorrow morning, not sure if its up late tonight (Thurs) our time.
