Statue of that doughty Yorkshireman erected in Hyde Park by public subscription assisted by a grant of the NSW government, 1879. The plinth he's standing on is made from granodiorite from Moruya. The same stone was used in the pylons of the Sydney Harbour bridge.The statue itself is cast in bronze and is 13 feet (about 4 metres) high.

Neat shot Sally! My husband's brother's wife was a "Cook" before she married my BIL...and she says she's a distant relative of the Cap'n! (= And one of my very distant (about 11 generations back) relatives is Benedict Arnold...the famous "traitor"...not sure it's something to be proud of...but we're far enough away in years that it doesn't bother me! LOL! ;-)
