Sans Souci Leisure centre
When I was at school we used to come here for school sport. Of course it was a "pool" then, but now it's a "leisure centre" with indoor learning pool, weights room, cardio room and a cafe with an espresso machine (thank god!) thought I'd pay a revisit today on a gorgeous sunny day to do some laps.

Art and About: Sydney Life 03
John McRae - The Young Photographer. Shot in Lidcombe at the reception of a Muslim wedding. Ahmed is photographed as he photographs his aunt's family portrait.

Art and About: Sydney Life 02
Tom Williams - The Osman Family, Southerly Storm approaching Brighton Beach.
I voted for this as my favourite. It's so dynamic, so Sydney. Beach culture meets multiculturalism.

Art and About : Sydney Life 01
Every year, as part of the Art and About exhibition (free street art in Sydney), there is a photographic exhibition in Hyde Park North. Large canvases are hung between the trees. For the next few days I will show some of my favourites.
This is by Ernest Fratczak, and titled "Based On A True Story" (a languid summer afternoon in one of Sydney's more affluent suburbs)

Party time with Queen Victoria
Sadly, didn't have my camera with me, so phone pic will have to suffice. Queen Victoria outside the QVB in Sydney - all dressed up & no way of getting there!
Sydney's historic statues are dressed up for Art and About.

Graffiti - October Theme Day
Apparently Prince Charles talks to his plants to help them grow.
Here's me in 1977 (check the flares!) at Sydney University engaged in conversation with a wall of the old Wentworth Building. Nothing grew from this conversation, and the wall no longer exists.

The photo was taken on a Kodak Instamatic.
The following year I bought one of these in Hong Kong - one of the nicest cameras for the enthusiatic amateur ever made. It travelled the world with me several times, including 2003 when I borrowed a digital camera as well, and often accompanied by a Pentax ME - one for slides and one for film, or different ASA films. I didn't go fully digital until 2006. I still have that lovely K1000, and spare lenses and instruction manual - wish I had a case for it - it wore out.
