Foreshore Road, Port Botany

Old truck and boat, with some of the cranes of modern Port Botany, which accounts for 70% of Sydney's total trade throughput. Port Botany is being expanded.

  2. Found the link to your blog on Thorn Tree. Love your photos of Sydney. I live in the US and recently spent 2 weeks in AUS, including a couple days in Sydney. Looking at your picts, I wish I had more time to explore the city. Loved The Rocks area. It's also nice to find a fellow teacher interested in travel and photography!
    Thanks for sharing your images.

  3. Wouldn't it be fun to hop on that boat for a tour around the port and then a cruise out to sea?

  9. In 1999 the proportion of all empty containers exported from the Port was 19%. This year it is up to 27% and by 2015 it will be more than 1/3rd of the total 'trade'. Effectively an additional terminal is being built for EMPTY CONTAINERS. 7.5million cubic metres of the Bay is being dredged and the equivalent of 2 Botanic Gardens reclaimed between the existing port and the third runway and $billions of taxpayers money is being spent on this project and the road and rail projects that are needed to support it - all for empty containers. Along with the Desalination Pipes, the BOtany Bay Cable, the Vopak manufacturing plant, Orica's toxic plumes, the DP World expansion......it's time to say BYE BYE BOTANY BAY!
