Sandstone overhang and container ship, Botany Bay






Sandstone is a feature of the Sydney landscape. This beautiful overhang, enahnced by honeycomb weathering, is near the entrance to Botany Bay.

  7. Am not completely sure, but sandstone is all coral isn't it? And if so, those colors must reveal the type of coral that was laid down. I think this is an amazing shot and I apologize for not getting here yesterday. And thanks for your many visits to my blog.

  8. Abraham - no sandstone isn't coral (maybe you are thinking of limestone?). It is sedimentary, grains laid down under the sea over millions of years.

  9. Oh, that is beautiful, and the honeycomb is really special... rock formations with striations have always held a certain attraction for me. Although I've never been there, I've always admired pictures of the slot canyons in the Southwest US. That's also sandstone.
