But the corner of Elizabeth and Market Streets in Sydney. Should I call in for one of those incredibly expensive squares of silk every Parisian woman seems born knowing how to wear?
Mind you Sally, wearing the famous Hermes silk scarf "le carré Hermès" is an Art... and a Social statement.
Loosely tied around your neck the nod in front or skin-tight with nod at the back. Used as a a belt on your jeans or as an accessoire, tied to your handbag. Or back to inital usage, to protect your hair by windy days...
The way you wear it, says it all. On who you are or where you come from...
Kris: I've actually got a drawer full of silk scarves. Bursa silk. Bought in Turkey for about $5 each. And all beautiful! I rarely feel comfortable wearing them, so tieing to a bag is how they usually go out with me too!
Seeing so many of them queueing in front of Hermès each time i'm passing by in Paris (rue de Faubourg Saint Honoré), I think Japanese women must be very skilful too with this piece of tissue...Hermès is famous for his leather work too (one day, I heard a woman coming out of the shop, saying she had one of their handbags in each color...)
Sally have you noticed the kind of Napoleon on his horse statue hovering way above this building (actually on top of the next building further up on King St)???
I've really been wondering about that one. Would need a powerful zoom to achieve any good photo of it but it really intrigues me. Do you know anything about it?
Yes, pretty please ;-)
ReplyDeleteIs that a suspension awning or a roof?
(You know, Evanovich's #13 is coming out next month!)
It's an awning, Isabella.

ReplyDeleteI like the colors. It seems those colors are becoming more popular. Our prescription shop or pharmacy was painted that same color just yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI got to fly last night. I mean I just dove in and flew. You can find out how on my blog post today.

Thank you for sharing the lovely photos!
ReplyDeleteI think that building may be the old St James Hotel. (There is a new St James Hotel around the corner on Castlereigh St now!)
