embracing the plateau (Sculpture By The Sea 2009)
Work by Daniel Clemmett.
Made of recycled steel, car bonnet undercarriages.
Artist's statement: "Offering a wry comment on ancient ideals in juxtaposition with the state of contemporary man, a major health problem in the developed world."
More about the artists here.
Here is his entry in last year's SxS.

That's a bit different.
ReplyDeleteDidn't realise there were so many sculptures on display.
ReplyDeleteSydney - City and Suburbs
This is really cool!
ReplyDeleteTalk about undercarriages!
ReplyDeleteDon't quite follow this image and the sculptor's ideas. I can see the "ancient ideal" in the plump female form, but I would have thought it is the developed world that has a problem with obesity, not the undeveloped world.
yippee, Sculpture by the sea again !!! I came over to see if there was anything out yet and YES, there is! It feels like Xmas, I look forward to as many posts as you care to do on the subject.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
... although I have to say I don't like that piece at all LOL
ReplyDeleteSydney's sophisticated Sally sometimes sees strange steel sculptures!
ReplyDeleteVery powerful image and statement. Not something I'd like to keep near me though. ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat picture Sally . You have got a collection of unique pictures around sydney .
ReplyDeleteI love reading your blog.
