    But good for the dams!

Huge storm over Avignon for the first time since I arrived here (very rare in winter too). Back to sunny and blue now.

  3. colin : that's why it's worth a whole blog on Sydney Daily Photo, but would be boringly prosaic in the UK :-O

  5. On TV this morning there was this woman from Adelaide going on about the wonderful weather in Australia!
It seems they are advertising the city to recruit skilled workers from the UK by comparing its lifestyle to that of Staines [just outside London] Naturally the good people of Staines are outraged by the slur on their good name - which in turn of course only serves to publicise the Adelaide campaign!

  6. It might be smart to look around for anybody building a big boat.

  7. Gerald : Saatchi advertising did the campaign....I am sure that is EXACTLY the desired effect! Of course, Adelaide has a more mediterranean climate - hot fry summers, coole wet winters, while Sydney is far more tropical (while not actually in the tropis). We get a lot of weather systems from further north - the tail end of the cyclones they experience, and so more rain in winter - well at least normally, not when haviong a drought.

  9. That's a clever Adelaide campaign. The "outraged" leader of Staines was on the Radio the other night in the UK and in all the newspapers.
On the subject of weather me and my Wife always go to Australia in our Summer your Winter and the weather is almost always better than the Summer we have left at home. Love the Brisbane "Winter" brrr brrr

  10. Wow! That's a lot of rain! We get about 10 inches per year. Not sure what we would do with that much at one time!

  12. Hi Sally,
I just realised this is your main blog instead of the swimming pool one!
We got heaps of rain in QLD for the past weeks now but it looks like a clear blue sky today. I hope they ease the water restriction soon as the water level in the dams has gone up more than 30% capacity.
