Wulworrá-jeung (Robertson's Point) - Cremorne

This is one of my favourite spots in all of Sydney Harbour. I like to climb down the ladder in the cliff face and sit on that little bridge across to the lighthouse and watch ferries, cruise ships, kayaks, and whatever else comes into view on the harbour. Robertson's Point was called Wulworrá-jeung by local Aborigines, the Cammeraygal. It's at the very tip of Cremorne Point.

James Robertson, a Scottish watchmaker, was granted 86 acres of land here in 1832. he built a house here. PS, all the masts across the harbour (above) are of the Sydney-Hobart yacht race fleet in Rushcutters Bay.

  1. Fabulous shots. Love that first one in particular - and great to see the yachts prior to the Sydney-Hobart.

  4. I spent the first part of New Year's Day in Rushcutter's Bay park just near those masts. Also a stunning location, albeit more built environment.

  5. Been to Sydney 5 times now on holiday from the UK and still there is more things I find we have not seen. Oh well another excuse to visit your fabulous Country and City.

  8. Hi there, Sally. I'm writing a novel that includes Cremorne Point as a location. Can you tell me when the gate was installed on the walkway to stop people getting to the lighthouse? It seems to be between 2008 or 2009, but what month? My characters are there in January 2009. Thank you!!! Bobbie (My email is bobbie[dot]darbyshire9[at]ntlworld[dot]com)

  9. Hi bobbie - I didn't know there was a gate! I'm devastated.

    Good luck with the research...

  10. Thank you, Sally! I'm devastated too! It is my best place in the world, and free access to such a magical place was part of its easygoing Sydney charm. The gate completely ruins it. You can see the horrid thing if you Google Cremorne Point lighthouse pictures.
