Von Stauffenberg's Stamp

'Two Twisted' was a TV series of half hour shows, each with a mysterious twist at the end. An episode called 'Von Stauffenberg's Stamp' (Von Stauffenberg was the military officer who tried to assassinate Hitler) was filmed using both the exterior and interior of the Bexley Stamp Shop, which I went to today for some collectors' supplies.

The story involved a stamp dealer, and a barber, whose shops were next to each other. The real stamp shop owner told me they used a barber shop in another suburb, and melded the two together on screen, because this barber didn't want to take part.

Three of my favourite actors - Sam Neill, Roy Billing, and Wendy Hughes were in the show. So, a small local 'Brush With Fame'.

  1. Sound's an interesting storyline, shame I'll never get to see it. What sort of stamps do you collect?

  2. That was a great series. Love the twist at the end of each and only a couple were predictable.

  4. Thanks all! Olivier - you never know where in the world, or when it may pop up!

gail's man : I used to collect stamps, but that's one hobby that's taken a back seat lately. I was in there looking for clear plastic sleeves for my son's trading cards!

jd- yes, it was a good series!

  6. As a local, it was really cool seeing those shops featured in that TV series. Quite surreal really, considering I went to that barber shop as a young boy and also visited the stamp shop when stamps were a big hobby for me. Just a little bit of trivia on 'Two Twisted'. When I watched it, I noticed that the interior shots of the stamp shop were filmed in Bexley stamps but an entirely different barber shop was used for those interior shots. Local viewers might also have noticed the continuity error. The door on the interior shots was actually on the opposite side of the shopfront and there was not much traffic outside, on busy Forest Road.

  7. j bar : yeah, that's right. The barber shop was in Kingsgrove. Think I said outside that the barber didn't want to take part in it.
