Later: There are many, many Thai restaurants in Sydney, and they are mostly very, very good. Some use the word "Thai" in their name to make a sort of pun: examples include Thai Foon, Thai Tanic, Thai the Knot. Thailand used to be called Siam. So "Spice I Am" becomes Spice Siam if you run the words together....

Do I have to say it fast with an Australian accent? I can't figure out the pun. Maybe it will come to me later.
ReplyDeleteSiamese food?
ReplyDeleteNice photo anyway. Really nice.
I've actually heard of this place! I have a friend who loves to travel and mentioned this place once when we had Thai food together. She said she was surprised that she found some of the best Thai food she'd had outside of Thailand at this little place in Sydney. Wow, it really is a small world. How cool!
ReplyDeleteI was wondering why those heaters were on, but then I remembered it's winter down there!
ReplyDeleteClever! About 20 years ago, there were a couple of Thai cafes in Newtown...Thai Phoon, Thai Tanic....I thought that was clever then too.
ReplyDeleteI'm just like Wayne. Even by saying it fast, I don't get the pun. Will you explain for the foreigners?
ReplyDeleteSally I think you'll enjoy the photo I posted yesterday. You'll recognise the place !!!
Looking forward to explanation but think, if it's a Thai restaurant, then Siam - Siamese. Yes?
ReplyDelete:) thats nice..
ReplyDeletehave posted roses for you today!
Oh goody, got it right! Well it sounds lovely and so is Thai food. Do I get a free meal there as a prize? And the airfare?! ....it's a joke, like the name of the restaurant.
ReplyDeletelol, they are very creative in naming the restaurants.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the addendum Sally. Much appreciated.
