Went for a walk in Père Lachaise Cemetery, mainly to visit some women who are "permanent Parisiennes" : Colette, Piaf, Alice B Toklas, Gertrude Stein, Isadora Duncan, Marie Laurencin, but of course couldn't resist calling past Oscar Wilde and Jim Morrison.
Morrison's grave has baricades placed around it now, so rather than the steady stream of visitors writing messages and leaving tributes on the grave itself, the nearby tree attracts a fair amount of attention.
These lovelies were discussing how best to leave their mark.

I have no idea who this person is or was but it must be big to have a fenced area and people leaving tributes around the tree.
ReplyDeleteSad that the 27 club got a new member recently.
ReplyDeleteAbe - Jim Morrison was the singer with rock band The Doors. Died in Paris 3 July 1971, age 27. Been a cult figure ever since.
ReplyDeleteMorrison died 40 years ago. He would be old enough to be grandfather to these lasses! The cult of celebrity has much to answer for!
