Dental Hospital

The Dental hospital at 5.31 pm as I headed home from work. The setting sun reflected on the west facing facade caught my eye. (PS The trees are just starting to shimmer the merest hint of spring leaf growth...you can't see it here, and is barely discernible to the eye, but I'll try for a photo as soon as I can)

  1. In NA we call this a Flat Iron building. Is that what you call it in Australia Sally?

They're always photogenic. I've never heard of a Dental Hospital but we do, of course, have Schools of Dentistry at university.

  2. Where I live near Cronulla, we have blossom trees in flower, new growth coming on local plane trees and I've already seen the first wisteria in full flower - fantastic!

  3. wayne, Indeed, it reminds me of my very favourite NYC building - the Flatiron (cnr 5th Avenue and 23rd St if memory serves me)....but this one is not called that here.

  4. That is an incredible photo! I will try to get some photos of PA uploaded on my site. I'm just a rookie, here.

  5. I have to say that one of my favorite things about the city daily photo community is hearing about the weather differences between the northern and southern hemispheres. You have trees budding and some areas of the US are starting to see leaves fall. I see photos from the southern hemisphere with people wearing coats while we are trying to keep cool. It's fun and makes the world seem so much smaller.

  6. Nice photograph. I don't see too many buildings like this one and it is striking.

  7. I think I am following Abraham around the world some days!

Your photograph makes this particularly dodgy building appear most attractive, Sally.

The trees are starting to turn aren't they. Monday was such a wonderful example of a Spring day. I've looked at the weather for the next few days (prompted by Abraham) and it will be back to the blizzard chill of two weeks ago.

  8. I like this building. The architecture is really cool. Are those window areas on the corner offices or boring staircases?

    Very nice pic!

  9. The view of the Dental Hospital with the trains running past as you go down Castlereagh St to Central is one of my favourites!

I took a (very ordinary compared to this!) photo of it today from a taxi.

You've so made my day with this pic.

  10. A beautiful photo, Sally, which goes some way to overcoming a deep seated dread of this building I have since spending many and, at times, painful hours there as a kid. Between the ages of 11 and 21 I traipsed in there between hour long train trips from Mt Colah to Central getting my horrible teeth fixed.
