Graffiti - October Theme Day
Apparently Prince Charles talks to his plants to help them grow.
Here's me in 1977 (check the flares!) at Sydney University engaged in conversation with a wall of the old Wentworth Building. Nothing grew from this conversation, and the wall no longer exists.

The photo was taken on a Kodak Instamatic.
The following year I bought one of these in Hong Kong - one of the nicest cameras for the enthusiatic amateur ever made. It travelled the world with me several times, including 2003 when I borrowed a digital camera as well, and often accompanied by a Pentax ME - one for slides and one for film, or different ASA films. I didn't go fully digital until 2006. I still have that lovely K1000, and spare lenses and instruction manual - wish I had a case for it - it wore out.

what a lovely photo of you Sally!
ReplyDeleteI love graffiti, it's always a bit disappointing seeing huge, freshly painted, starkly blank walls around town. "Sometimes walls speak", I like that! :D
ReplyDeleteOh, it didn't take me long to get the words mixed up, either...
ReplyDeleteLove it, love it! Obviously a lovely old photo so I had to look closer and there you are! What a great idea to use this for today's theme and to tell us about your camera.
ReplyDeleteLove the flares!

ReplyDeleteHaha, great take for today!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post from your youth! Love the flares and your beautiful old Instamatic. The name alone makes me smile — some of my aunts and uncles still use the word to refer to all non-SLR cameras, film or digital.

ReplyDeleteYes, and apparently he eavesdrops on tourists too. Yikes! But I love that shot of you :)

ReplyDeleteNow that's SOME vintage shot!
ReplyDeleteAlthough spray paint wasn't as popular as it is today, graffiti were already out in those days...
What a great shot and story, Sally !
A trip down memory lane. The graffiti reminds me of the lyric from Simon & Garfunkel's Sounds of Silence, "The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls, tenement halls, . . . "
ReplyDeleteYou probably listened to that song around the time this photo was taken.
I certainly would have, Dave!
