The Illustrated Man

The tattoo parlour The Illustrated Man has been a feature of the corner of Elizabeth St and Foster St, Surry Hills for as long as I can remember. Recently they have moved a few metres to the other corner of Foster St. Nice, shiny new premises.

The tiger tattoo mural on the wall of the old shop will probably disappear under re-development int he not too distant future. So here it is, for the record, and reflected in the window of the new place.

  1. We have LA Ink on television and it is about Kat Von D who owns the place and her parlor in LA. I was fascinated by it when it came out a few years ago and saw some fine tattoos but then I look at my two red roses and green leaves on my left forearm, put there in Oakland California in 1954 and am glad I never had anything else done. After all these years the tattoo is mostly blurred black.

  2. Congratulations on their new premises. I've seen their designs and sample tattoos and all are awesome.

  4. Hi Sally,

My name is Pawel and I'm writing to you from Poland ( so excuse my possible grammar errors). I've been watching (reading) your photoblog for over 3 years. I've noticed that you haven't updated in a while. Have you stopped blogging?
I hope you are doing fine and it's just a short brake in your photoblogging. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is waiting for your next entries.

    Greetings from summer Warsaw

  5. Pawel, I do hope to resume at some time in the future. I had to stop for a while for personal reasons.
